Psalms, 61

1. For the leader; with stringed instruments. Of David.

2. Hear my cry, O God, listen to my prayer!

3. From the brink of Sheol I call; my heart grows faint. Raise me up, set me on a rock,

4. for you are my refuge, a tower of strength against the foe.

5. Then I will ever dwell in your tent, take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah

6. O God, when you accept my vows and hear the plea of those who revere your name in prayer:

7. "Add to the days of the king's life; may his years be many generations;

8. May he reign before God forever; may your love and fidelity preserve him"--

9. Then I will sing your name forever, fulfill my vows day after day.

Versi relativi a Psalms, 61:

Psalm 61 is a Psalm of David in which he cries to God for help and protection. David feels downcast and distant from God, but trusts his mercy and power to help him overcome his problems and strengthen him. He asks God to lead him to the highest rock and to protect him under his wings. Scouring the whole Bible, five verses related to the topics covered in Psalm 61 were found, presented below in order of proximity to the themes of the chapter:

Psalms 27:5: "For on the day of adversity he will hide me in his pavilion; in the recklessness of his tabernacle will hide me; on a rock he will raise me." This verse shows that David trusts God to protect and hide him during his adversities.

Psalm 91:4: "With your feathers will cover you, and under your wings you will take refuge; your truth will be your shield and Broquel." This verse presents the image of God protecting and covering with his wings those who trust him, such as David.

Psalm 62:7: "In God is my salvation and my glory; the rock of my fortress, and my refuge are in God." David trusts God to be his rock, his fortress and refuge.

Psalms 31:3: "For you are my rock and my fortress; so, for the sake of your name, guide me and forward me." This verse shows that David trusts God as his rock and fortress, and asks his orientation.

Psalm 46:1: "God is our refuge and fortress, a good help in anguish." This verse presents God as a refuge and fortress for those who need help in times of anguish, which is exactly what David seeks in Psalm 61.
