Psalms, 120

1. A Canticle in steps. I have lifted up my eyes to the mountains; from thence help will come to me.

2. My help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

3. May he not allow your foot to be moved, and may he not slumber, who guards you.

4. Behold, he who guards Israel will neither sleep, nor slumber.

5. The Lord is your keeper, the Lord is your protection, above your right hand.

6. The sun will not burn you by day, nor the moon by night.

7. The Lord guards you from all evil. May the Lord guard your soul.

8. May the Lord guard your entrance and your exit, from this time forward and even forever.

Versi relativi a Psalms, 120:

Psalm 120 is a psalm of lamentation that expresses the anguish and pain of the psalmist in the face of the evil and the falsehood that surrounds it. He calls for help and protection to God, asking the Lord to free him from the liars and misleading languages. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Psalm 120:

Proverbs 6:16-19: "Six things the Lord hates, and the seventh of his soul abominates: haughty eyes, liar language, hands that spill innocent blood, heart that plots wicked projects, rushing feet running to evil, False witness that utters lies and what sows strife between brothers. " This verse addresses the same question as the lying language that is addressed in Psalm 120.

Psalm 52:2: "Why do you glory in evil, O powerful man? For God's goodness is continues." Psalm 52 also talks about the power of language for good or evil, and highlights God's goodness as a response to man's wickedness.

James 3:5-6: "So the tongue is a small member, and boast of great things. See how great woods a small fire fire. Our members, and contaminate the whole body, and ignite the course of nature, and is inflamed by hell. " This verse highlights the influence and power of language and how it can be used for evil, as it is expressed in Psalm 120.

Psalm 31:18: "Shut up before the Lord God, for the day of the Lord is close; for the Lord has prepared sacrifice, and sanctified his guests." This verse speaks of the importance of silencing before God, recognizing His holiness and power. This can be interpreted as a response to the psalmist's cry in search of divine protection in Psalm 120.

Psalm 140:1: "Deliver me, O Lord, of the evil man; keep me from the violent man." Psalm 140 is also a psalm of lamentation that calls for divine protection against the wickedness of men. It relates to Psalm 120 for expressing the same anguish and pain of the psalmist in the face of the injustice and violence that surrounds it.
